Sialkot’s incoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise has officially revealed its identity. OZ Developers announced “Sialkot Stallionz” as the team name for PSL 11. This highly anticipated decision concludes months of public speculation regarding the new franchise’s moniker.
The owners shared this branding decision via their official social media channels. Importantly, this Sialkot team will join the league alongside a new Hyderabad franchise, expanding PSL’s reach across Pakistan. Consequently, cricket fans eagerly await the upcoming season to witness the new competition.
Reviving a Legacy: The Stallions’ Return
The chosen name, Sialkot Stallionz, serves as a significant tribute. It honors the legendary Sialkot Stallions, a formidable domestic T20 powerhouse. This original team dominated Pakistan’s cricket circuit throughout the 2000s.
Furthermore, the legendary Stallions were celebrated for an era-defining performance. Their impressive record included a stunning winning streak and multiple championship titles. Thus, the new franchise aims to rekindle this spirit of excellence on the field.

Sialkot’s Record-Breaking Bid
Hamza Majeed, representing OZ Developers, successfully secured the Sialkot Stallionz franchise. Their winning bid stood at an impressive Rs. 1.85 billion per year. Reportedly, this makes it the most expensive PSL team acquired to date.
Strategic Player and Coaching Focus
During his initial media interaction following the franchise purchase, Hamza Majeed outlined a clear selection strategy. He emphasized that team selection would be strictly performance-based. This ensures a meritocratic approach to building the squad.
Firstly, the franchise plans to target the best available Pakistani talent. Subsequently, they will consider Australian players to bolster the team. Furthermore, exploring top-tier coaching options from Australia remains a possibility, especially if local staff are unavailable. This comprehensive approach aims for a strong competitive edge.
Reviving Jinnah Stadium: A Key Priority
Hamza also addressed concerns regarding Sialkot’s traditional home ground. Historically, some PSL franchises have played away from their designated cities. The revival of Jinnah Stadium, Sialkot, is therefore a key priority. Both the franchise and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) share this commitment.
Until Jinnah Stadium’s resolution, Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad will serve as Sialkot’s secondary home venue. This temporary arrangement ensures the team has a dedicated ground for its matches, supporting fan engagement.
