PSRA Takes Action Against Schools for Winter Break Violation
The Private Schools Regulatory Authority (PSRA) has initiated strict legal proceedings against three private schools. These institutions are accused of a clear schools winter break violation, defying official directives by continuing operations during the mandated holiday period. Official Winter Holiday Schedules
The Elementary and Secondary Education Department clearly announced specific dates for winter vacations. Specifically, schools in summer zones were scheduled for a break from January 1 to January 15. In contrast, institutions in winter zones received a longer holiday period, from December 22, 2025, to February 28, 2026.
These notifications are vital for several reasons. They support student well-being, ensure adequate teacher rest, and facilitate broader academic planning. Investigations Confirm Holiday Non-Compliance
PSRA Managing Director Javed Iqbal directly instructed the formation of a dedicated inspection committee. Assistant Director Syed Faizan Ali Shah and Assistant Muhammad Roshaan comprised this committee. Their primary mandate was to investigate all reports of non-compliance regarding the winter vacation period.
After receiving several complaints, the committee focused its inspections within Peshawar district. Rigorous checks confirmed that three schools were operating despite the ongoing winter vacation. These included The Educators School Rahatabad Campus, Ittefaq Model School and College Chamkani, and The Knowledge School Chamkani.
The inspection team carefully documented these violations. They confirmed the schools had opened in direct opposition to the joint winter vacation notification. This directive was issued by the Elementary and Secondary Education Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and PSRA on December 19, 2025.
PSRA Issues Warnings, Initiates Legal Action
PSRA officials disclosed that these institutions received multiple warnings to comply with the official notification. Nevertheless, the schools chose to continue academic activities. This demonstrated a clear disregard for established regulations, prompting further intervention.
Given these confirmed and persistent violations, the PSRA will pursue stringent legal action against the implicated schools. This legal process will proceed under the comprehensive rules and regulations of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Private Schools Regulatory Authority.
