The Punjab government is embarking on an ambitious journey, launching nine significant Punjab mega projects within the Faisalabad Division. These extensive development initiatives, part of the Punjab Development Program (PDP), aim to profoundly transform three key districts: Faisalabad, Jhang, and Toba Tek Singh. Consequently, these projects represent a multi-billion rupee investment in the region’s future.
Strategic Oversight for Punjab’s Mega Projects
Commissioner Faisalabad Division, Raja Jahangir Anwar, recently convened a meeting to assess the progress of these planned undertakings. He strongly emphasized the critical need for prompt completion of master plans, tendering processes, and the efficient awarding of work. Furthermore, he directed seamless coordination among key stakeholders, including assistant commissioners, NESPAK, local government departments, and the project management unit.

Accelerating Development Work in Districts
The Commissioner outlined a clear strategy for accelerating development work. He stated that once planning and awarding are finalized, construction must commence immediately, operating in double shifts to ensure rapid progress. He also committed to personal weekly visits to concerned tehsils, allowing him to directly monitor project implementation and address any emerging challenges. This proactive approach underscores the government’s commitment to these crucial initiatives.
Moreover, Commissioner Anwar highlighted the Chief Minister’s directives to guarantee effective and speedy execution of the Punjab Development Program. He, therefore, stressed that deputy commissioners must prioritize the PDP, diligently overseeing its implementation to ensure success. This focus on meticulous monitoring aims to deliver tangible results for the local populace.

Enhancing Public Safety: Fire Extinguisher Mandate
In a separate, equally vital meeting, Commissioner Anwar issued a stringent one-week deadline for the installation of fire extinguishers in all multi-storey buildings across the division. This directive aims to significantly enhance public safety and preparedness.
Compliance and Enforcement Measures
To ensure widespread compliance, he instructed Civil Defense and Rescue 1122 to promptly issue notices to a wide array of establishments. These include marquees, hotels, restaurants, shopping malls, industrial units, housing societies, public offices, and educational institutions. Furthermore, he directed authorities to conduct mock emergency drills at educational institutions, proactively preparing them for potential emergencies. The Commissioner explicitly warned that after the one-week grace period, he, alongside deputy and assistant commissioners, would conduct thorough inspections. Consequently, non-compliance will lead to immediate fines and the sealing of non-conforming buildings.
