PCB Opens Bidding for PSL Media Rights: A Four-Year Deal
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially announced its plan to sell the PSL media rights for an extended four-year cycle. This significant period will cover the highly anticipated 2026 to 2029 seasons of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). This move aims to secure long-term broadcast partnerships, consequently strengthening the commercial value of Pakistan’s premier T20 league.
Understanding the Media Rights Package
On Thursday, the PCB issued a statement, formally inviting applications from interested parties eager to acquire the league’s exclusive media rights. This comprehensive package includes both television broadcasting rights and live streaming rights, making it a lucrative opportunity for media entities. Furthermore, the board clarified that these rights are specifically limited to the Pakistan region, excluding any international broadcast territories.

Application Process and Deadlines
Prospective bidders have until February 4 to submit their applications. Once this crucial deadline passes, the bidding process will advance to its subsequent stages. Consequently, the PCB anticipates a competitive environment, ensuring the best possible outcome for the league and its stakeholders.
Boosting PSL’s Commercial Value
The strategic sale of these PSL media rights aims to fundamentally enhance the PSL’s commercial appeal. Since its inception, the Pakistan Super League has rapidly evolved into one of the nation’s leading sporting events. Therefore, securing robust broadcast partnerships is vital for its continued growth and success.
Previous Media Rights Agreements
In previous cycles, A Sports successfully secured the television broadcast rights, while Walee Technology won the digital streaming rights. Both of these agreements were initially signed for two-year periods, commencing in 2024. Significantly, media rights represent the PSL’s largest source of revenue, with an impressive 95% of these earnings distributed directly among the league’s competing franchises.
