Enhancing Educational Security Across Punjab
In a monumental step towards student safety, over 30,000 public and private educational institutions across Punjab have integrated with the comprehensive Punjab Safe City Project. This strategic connection significantly bolsters security and enables real-time monitoring. Consequently, this initiative ushers in a new era for educational institution security, establishing a robust framework for student protection.
How the Safe City System Elevates Campus Safety
This transformative initiative centers on a dedicated Public Safety App. Representatives from schools, colleges, and universities must update their security status three times daily via this innovative application. Furthermore, authorities can monitor safety conditions efficiently, requiring just a single click. Officials confirm the Virtual Centre for Educational Security is now fully operational, serving as the central hub for advanced surveillance.

Registration and Alert Mechanisms
To date, the program has successfully registered 30,000 institutions, alongside over 130,000 teachers and security personnel. The Public Safety App’s installation is mandatory for all institutional staff, ensuring widespread adoption. Critically, the system automatically issues alerts for any perceived threat or emergency. This provides rapid response capabilities and immediate warnings.
Advanced Monitoring and Rapid Response Integration
Authorities are also linking existing CCTV camera networks of educational institutions directly to the broader Safe City infrastructure, enabling continuous live monitoring. Additionally, the installation of crucial panic buttons within these institutions has entered its final phase. These advanced features will further enhance the proactive security posture of Punjab’s learning environments. Ultimately, officials are confident that the virtual security center will not only improve protection but also prove invaluable in swift investigations of security-related incidents, reinforcing a commitment to comprehensive safety.
