Massive Railway Land Recovery: A Pakistan Railways Anti-Encroachment Drive
Pakistan Railways (PR) Police recently completed a significant anti-encroachment operation. Consequently, they successfully recovered 506 acres of illegally occupied railway land. This valuable land is estimated to be worth an astounding Rs 11.39 billion, marking a pivotal railway land recovery achievement. This monumental effort clearly demonstrates the authorities’ strong commitment to safeguarding state assets and curbing illegal activities across the railway network.
Furthermore, this extensive operation led to registering 1,49 cases against the notorious land mafia. Officials also apprehended 1,99 suspects. This highlights the PR Police’s rigorous enforcement strategy. Inspector General Rai Tahir chaired a high-level meeting. During this meeting, divisional superintendents of police (SPs) from various key cities disclosed these impressive performance details. These cities included Lahore, Karachi, Sukkur, Multan, Quetta, Rawalpindi, and Peshawar.
Comprehensive Operations: Law, Order, and Crime Control
During the pivotal meeting, divisional SPs presented detailed briefings. They covered maintaining law and order, ensuring passenger and train security, robust crime control measures, and ongoing anti-encroachment drive efforts. Beyond land recovery, the PR Police actively engage in diverse enforcement activities. Across the country, authorities registered 3,681 cases for various offenses. Additionally, they arrested 4,197 suspects. This broad scope of action reflects a dedicated effort. Tackling Specific Crimes: Theft, Smuggling, and Illicit Activities
Combating Railway Material Theft
The PR Police’s efforts extend to combating specific criminal elements. These elements threaten railway integrity and public safety. In targeted operations against the theft of valuable railway material, police registered 493 cases. Consequently, these actions led to the arrest of 677 suspects. They also recovered stolen goods worth Rs 9.4 million. Such PR Police operations are crucial for maintaining the operational efficiency and infrastructure of Pakistan Railways.
Crackdown on Illegal Arms and Narcotics Smuggling
Furthermore, a significant crackdown targeted illegal arms smuggling. This resulted in 68 registered cases, with 72 suspects apprehended. These operations led to the recovery of a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition, including Kalashnikovs, rifles, pistols, and nearly 2,000 bullets. Hence, these actions effectively neutralized threats posed by illicit weaponry.
The PR Police also intensified their efforts against narcotics smuggling through trains. They registered 218 cases and arrested 218 individuals. Large quantities of illicit drugs were recovered. These included heroin, charas, opium, ice, bhang, and liquor, thereby disrupting drug trafficking networks.
Humanitarian Efforts: Passenger Welfare and Support
Beyond law enforcement, Pakistan Railways Police play a vital humanitarian role. They extend services to assist vulnerable individuals and passengers. Demonstrating their commitment to public welfare, the police successfully recovered 413 runaway boys and 245 girls. Subsequently, they reunited these children with their anxious families. Additionally, the PR Police have been instrumental in recovering lost goods belonging to passengers. Items valued at Rs 33.4 million were successfully found and returned to their rightful owners.
