The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) recently unveiled significant details about the upcoming Pakistan 5G auction. This pivotal event, planned for 2026, focuses on Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS) and aims to revolutionize the nation’s digital landscape. Ultimately, a substantial 597.2 MHz of spectrum, all below 6 GHz, will be available to mobile operators. This valuable resource will be sold through a carefully structured, multi-band auction process. Furthermore, this approach ensures broad participation and efficient allocation.
The auction will encompass six distinct frequency bands: 700 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz, 2600 MHz, and 3500 MHz. Both Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) and Time Division Duplex (TDD) bands are included. Significantly, some of these bands, such as 700 MHz, 2300 MHz, 2600 MHz, and 3500 MHz, will be made accessible to cellular operators in Pakistan for the very first time.
